With 12 buildings and nearly 300 rooms, the museum feels like a city within a city and is ideal for travelers who want a deeper understanding of Jeddah’s layered identity.

For a family-friendly science stop, head to the Sultan bin Abdulaziz Science and Technology Center, better known as Scitech, on the Corniche in Al Khobar. The center features scientific halls dedicated to topics such as Earth and space, the living world, seas, discovery, wonders of science, and technology. Visitors can also enjoy the IMAX scientific dome, astronomical observatory, and hands-on displays designed to make learning interactive and entertaining.

Red Sea Museum

The Red Sea Museum, originally announced for Jeddah’s historic Al Balad district, has now opened to the public. Located in the restored Bab Al-Bunt building in Historic Jeddah, the museum explores the Red Sea’s role in trade, pilgrimage, maritime navigation, geology, cultural exchange, and coastal heritage. It is a strong new addition for visitors exploring Jeddah’s UNESCO-listed old town.

Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art

Saudi Arabia’s contemporary art scene has also grown significantly. The Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art, known as SAMoCA, opened at JAX District in Riyadh in 2023 as the Kingdom’s first museum dedicated to contemporary art. It hosts exhibitions, programs, and creative initiatives featuring Saudi and international artists. A larger flagship SAMoCA project in Diriyah is also moving forward, with a major construction contract awarded in 2026.

teamLab Borderless Jeddah

TeamLab Borderless Jeddah is now open as a permanent digital art museum in the Jeddah Historic District. Created by the international art collective teamLab, the museum uses light, sound, movement, and interactive technology to create immersive spaces where artworks move beyond traditional boundaries. It opened on June 10, 2024, making it one of Saudi Arabia’s newest must-see cultural attractions.
